New Patriotic Party (NPP) activist, Daniel Adomako, popularly known as Sir Obama Pokuase, has reportedly been re-arrested by the Ghana Police Service.

The activist, who was first arrested on August 13, 2025, as part of ongoing intelligence-led operations targeting the illegal possession and display of sophisticated weapons, had been in police custody after failing to meet the bail conditions granted by an Accra Circuit Court.

According to the police, his initial arrest was to assist with investigations into videos and images allegedly shared on social media showing individuals brandishing high-grade firearms.

Appearing before Accra Circuit Court 10 on Monday, August 18, 2025, Sir Obama Pokuase, having finally met his bail conditions, was expected to be released after the court’s adjournment. However, reports indicate that he was instead driven back to the Police Headquarters in Accra for questioning in connection with another case filed against him.

The latest development has sparked renewed calls for his release, with some members of the NPP describing his continued detention as an act of political witch-hunting and abuse of power.

“Sir Obama re-arrested over a FB post. REVENGE agenda by persons intoxicated by transient power. I want to see how this plays out. Clearly, the rule of law applies only to who is in gov’t!” former NPP parliamentary candidate for the Adenta Constituency in the 2024 elections, Akosua Manu, wrote on her X page.
