Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority, Prof Ransford Gyampo, has stated that the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is in no position to win an electoral contest in Ghana until 2032.

He made this assertion on TV3 on Saturday, June 21, 2025, while speaking to the recent National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting that sought to address pertinent internal party issues.

He alluded to the fact that the NPP is not yet ready to contest in any electoral

“I respect the NPP, their leadership, as well as their initiatives but I sincerely, think that they need to do a whole of work to regain the trust of Ghanaians before they think of contesting in any elections.

“I think they should go back to the drawing board to ascertain what has gone on internally over the years. Currently, I don’t think that they can win any contest until somewhere in 2032,” Prof Gyampo said.

The NEC meeting which was held on June 17, 2025, eventually led to the expansion of the electoral college to include past national, regional, and constituency executives, MMDCEs, Members of Parliament, and ministers and their deputies.

The leadership also settled on January 31, 2026 as date for presidential primaries for the party.
