Christianborg shooting incident observed in Accra.

A solemn wreath-laying ceremony took place at the Freedom Monument in Accra today to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 28th February Christianborg crossroads shooting incident. Seven officers and 120 men from the Police, Ghana Army, Navy, Airforce and the Veterans Association of Ghana formed a parade, under the command of Llt. Commander E. K. Osei-Owusu. Present at the function was the Minister for Defence Alhaji Mahama Iddrisu, who laid a wreath on behalf of the government and people of Ghana. February 28th each year is observed in memory of three Ghanaian ex-servicemen, Sergeant Adjetey, Corporal Attipoe and Private Odartey-Lamptey who were shot dead by the colonial police on a peaceful march to present a petition to the then governor of the Gold Coast, Sir Gerald Creasy at the Castle, Osu.
