New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, is scheduled to appear before the party’s vetting committee on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, as part of preparations for the 2026 presidential primaries.

The vetting process is aimed at ensuring that all aspirants meet the party’s eligibility criteria, adhere to internal regulations, and demonstrate their readiness to lead the party.

According to an adomonline.com report on September 23, 2025, Dr Bawumia, a former Vice President, is expected to present his leadership credentials, political vision, and plans to unify the party ahead of the elections.

“His campaign, running under the theme ‘Win with Bawumia’, has positioned him as a frontrunner in the race,” the report said.

If cleared, he will contest alongside four other aspirants: Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, former NPP General Secretary; Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former Assin Central MP and businessman; Dr Bryan Acheampong, MP for Abetifi and former Minister for Food and Agriculture; and Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, MP for Bosomtwe and former Education Minister.

The NPP presidential primaries are scheduled for January 31, 2026.
