Minister for Communications, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has stated that the National Democratic Congress NDC, respects former president Rawlings and so will not in any way disrespect him – though the latter failed to publicly endorse the party’s presidential candidate, President John Dramani Mahama, at their campaign launch in Cape Coast yesterday.

Speaking on reports going rounds on why former president Rawlings did not publicly endorse Mr. Mahama, Dr. Omane Boamah explained on Asempa fm that, the party is not worried about reports that former President Jerry John Rawlings failed to publicly endorse the candidature of President Mahama at the NDC campaign launch.

He reiterated the party's respect for the role of the founder.

According to Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the NDC has performed creditably well in infrastructure, health, education and many other sectors and has also created significant number of jobs.

President Mahama is still working to create more jobs particularly as the World Bank has predicted Ghana's economy to grow above 8% in 2017.

He said on Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen Programme that the massive show of support and love for President Mahama witnessed at the Cape Coast stadium yesterday during the launch of the campaign is a clear indication that the onetouch victory will happen according to the will of God.

Accordingly the minister expressed shock at the way the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is blowing the issue of no endorsement out of proportion just for cheap political points.

Dr. Omane Boamah urged the NPP to rather concentrate on uniting their front ahead of the December elections.
