A Deputy General Secretary of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, has urged the rank and file of the NDC to be humble as the party looks forward to regaining power in the 2020 presidential and parliamentary polls.

According to him, some executives of the NDC believe elders of the party should be ignored. This situation, he said, was not the best because such figures have a lot of wisdom and knowledge to help the cause of the party.

Speaking in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom, on Thursday June 8 in connection with the 25th anniversary of the NDC, Mr Anyidoho said: “We need to respect the elderly in the party. Today some people think that they are in charge and so we should do away with the elders of the party, but that should not be done because they have a lot of wisdom to offer the party.

“…Sometimes when we meet on social media we insult everybody including the elderly, we have turned politics into WhatsApp politics. We need to go back to the core values and ethics and one of them is humility.”

He added: “After 25 years of the existence of the NDC, we need to do a self-assessment – that is why we are embarking on this year-long anniversary.”
