Chief in court for unlawful damage

Cape Coast, July 13, GNA - Nana Kwesi Tandoh IV, a sub chief in the Elmina Traditional Area was on Tuesday granted five million cedis bail for causing unlawful damage to the property of Madam Felicia Agyeman, valued at two million cedis.

Nana Tandoh who pleaded not guilty would reappear on Tuesday July 27.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Hope Azasoo told the court presided over by Mr Mustapha Logoh, that both the accused and the complainant lived at Ankaful near Cape Coast and that some time in October last year, the complainant acquired a piece of land to build a storeroom.

He said on April 10 this year, the mason the complainant engaged to work on the building went to the project site and realised that the building, which was at knee-level had been demolished, so he reported the matter to the complainant who in turn reported to the police. Inspector Azasoo said the complainant conducted her own investigation and it was detected that it was the accused, who had destroyed the building and she again reported her finding to the police and the accused was arrested.

He said when the accused was interrogated he admitted the offence with the explanation that where the project was sited was a nuisance to him because it was in front of his house. 13 July 04
