The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has reiterated the point that the Nation Builders Corps(NABCO), a programme which offers temporary employment for graduates, is part of a well-thought-out broader plan to transform Ghana’s economy.
Speaking at the Closing Ceremony of the NABCO First Anniversary Celebration yesterday, the Vice President “reaffirmed the administration’s policy to prioritize job creation and introduce social interventions for all to benefit and not create, loot and share Ghana’s limited resources to be enjoyed by just a few.”
“Ladies and gentleman, let me put all of this in a broader context because what the government of Nana Akufo Addo is doing with NABCO is just one piece of a greater jigsaw that we are putting together for the transformation of Ghana as a whole,” he told the enthusiastic crowd in Accra last Friday.
He also used the opportunity to praise the government, arguing that the New Patriotic Party(NPP) government is a better manager of Ghana’s economy than the National Democratic Congress(NDC), stating that in 2019, Ghana will be the fastest growing economy in the world according to the International Monetary Fund(IMF)
“But hold on, last year Ghana was also among if not, the fastest growing economy in the world. In 2019, Ghana is going to be the fastest-growing economy,” he declared.
He then concluded that the performance of the economy is testament to the NPP’s competent management of the economy.
“When it comes to the performance if the economy in the first term in office of our government under the leadership of Nana Akufo-Addo, when you compare…then it is clearly a case of” boot for chalewote,” he teased.
