The Central Regional Coordinator for Nation Builder’s Corps (NABCO), Lawyer Solomon Ebo Appiah has revealed that the policy which was initiated by the current administration has collapsed the unemployed graduates association that gained notoriety under the tenure of the previous administration.

He has therefore called on Ghanaians to support the initiative by ensuring that the pilot programme becomes successful and effective to combat the high unemployment rate in the country stating that NABCO is not President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo’s property, but was set up to create employment avenues and opportunities for graduates who are unemployed irrespective of their political inclination.

In exclusive interview with MyNewsGh.com shortly after a health walk and health screening exercise in Cape Coast, Lawyer Ebo Appiah indicated that his outfit intends to expose greedy trainees who are gainfully employed elsewhere but have through dubious means enrolled onto NABCO.

According to him, once their system detects that such a person is with a different agency and with NABCO also, he or she would not be paid any allowance.

“That is why you hear a lot of people saying that they have not been paid…when it happens like that it becomes their own problem and not NABCO” Lawyer Ebo Appiah revealed.

In his view, these greedy trainees cannot cheat technology since NABCO is partnering with National Service Secretariat, Youth Employment Agency and Controller and Accountant’s General Department so to weed out persons who are seeking to benefit in multiples.

Over 7,000 people have benefited from NABCO pilot project in the Central Region alone with Cape Coast having 1,295 trainees. He therefore appealed to the government to expand the programme for fresh graduates to also enjoy maintaining that those who claim that they are sitting in the house and receiving pay from NABCO are liars.

The Cape Coast Metropolitan Coordinator of NABCO, Mr. Emmanuel Ebo Sarbah commended the the government for its marvelous initiative by putting smiles on the faces of unemployed graduates

He observed that hitherto the roll out of the policy, some youth of Cape Coast were unemployed for a very long time but can now boast of gainful employment to fend for themselves while looking elsewhere for permanent ones.
