A Mobile Money (MoMo) vendor, Victoria Arko, has recounted a terrifying robbery attack in which she claims a police inspector, identified as Bright Appiah Danquah, and his accomplices allegedly stole GH¢38,600 at gunpoint in Kumasi.
Speaking to Crime Check TV on May 11, 2026, and monitored by GhanaWeb, she said the attack happened in broad daylight on May 4, 2026, when she was working at her shop.

According to her, the suspect arrived on a motorbike and initially attempted to involve her in a suspicious mobile money transaction before pulling a gun.
“I am a Mobile Money (MoMo) vendor. On May 4, 2026, around 1 pm, a motor rider came to my shop after parking at a distance. He told me to give him my number for someone to make a monetary transaction on it, which I refused,” she said.
She explained that the suspect later called someone and spoke briefly before approaching her shop again.
“I entered the shop, which had CCTV installed, and he immediately came to stand at the door and pulled a gun on me in broad daylight. He demanded for my money, and I gave it to him,” she recounted.
Victoria Arko added that she was threatened at a time when she had her one-year-old child with her at the shop.
She indicated that the fear of the incident overwhelmed her.
“He told me to be fast and threatened to shoot me and my one-year-old son if I drew attention to him. I urinated on myself out of fear, with some of the urine splashing on my son. He drove away with all my money,” she recounted.
She stated that she immediately reported the incident and later discovered she was not the only victim on that day.
“The amount of money he took away was GH¢38,600, including my Ghana Card, ATM, two phones, and other valuables,” she said.
“Not knowing that the day the robber stole from me, he had robbed other vendors too before approaching me, so we were three victims for that particular day,” she added.
Victoria Arko said police later requested her CCTV footage, although the suspect’s face was not clearly captured.
She further revealed that she was later asked to identify a suspect in custody.
“Though the man’s face was not captured in the footage because he was wearing a cap, the conversation he had with me and the gun he pulled were captured. At the police station, the commander showed me a picture and asked if it was the person who robbed me, and I confirmed affirmatively,” she stated.
According to her, the suspect was later confirmed to be a police inspector.
“I was then taken to the Anti-Robbery unit to give my statement. They called some days after to come and confirm the identity of someone they had in custody. Not knowing the man who robbed me was a police inspector,” she said.
She added that the officer was linked to other robbery cases after investigations.
“Before his arrest, he had robbed two other persons,” she noted.
Victoria Arko also described how a separate robbery allegedly carried out by the same police officer led to him mistakenly leaving his phone at the crime scene, which helped police track the suspect.
“One of the victims managed to escape after the man pulled a gun on her. The robber, while picking up the money from the lady’s shop, mistakenly left his phone behind,” she said.
She explained that the said police officer cum robbery suspect, later reported the phone missing, which helped investigators identify him.

“So, the lady carried it to the police station as evidence. At the same time, the said police officer had gone to the police to lodge a complaint that his phone had gone missing, so they should track its location,” she narrated.
“Through his phone, they realised he was a police officer. He has since been arrested, and they have been remanded. They are four in number, two are police officers, and two are civilians,” she stated.
