Police in Tamale are investigating a disturbing case involving the alleged assault, filming and attempted blackmail of a young woman whose nude video was widely circulated on social media.

The victim said she was in a vehicle with a man when two unidentified men approached them.

According to a report by myjoyonline.com on May 11, 2026, the woman alleged that the suspects forcibly dragged her out of the vehicle while she was naked and assaulted her as they recorded videos, ignoring her pleas to stop.

It, however, remains unclear what transpired before this confrontation.

She further claimed that the man she was with exited the vehicle, spoke with the two men and later left the scene unharmed.

“I believe he gave them something, so they didn’t release his video and they left him,” she alleged.

The woman said one of the suspects later obtained her phone number and began demanding sex in exchange for deleting the footage.

According to her, he threatened to publish the video if she refused.

She stated that she eventually agreed to meet the suspect but managed to escape after he allegedly attempted to rape her.

The video was subsequently circulated online, causing her significant emotional distress and public embarrassment.

Police have since launched a manhunt to identify and arrest the suspects.

The victim is also reported to have attempted to take her own life in the aftermath of the incident.
