Dennis Miracles Aboagye, an aide to former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has presented what he claims is evidence of aggressive illegal mining popularly termed as 'galamsey', in forest reserves across the country.
In a video shared on X by JoyNews on September 21, 2025, Aboagye is shown with media personnel engaging with residents of Agona Kwanyako in the Agona East District.
"Together with the media, we visited Agona Kwanyako in the Agona East District this afternoon to provide the evidence as requested by government," he stated.
According to Aboagye, the residents of Agona East are suffering from the effects of illegal mining despite having no history of it in their area.

"Agona East in the Central Region has no mining and have never seen gold before. But here they are suffering from effects of ‘galamsey’ from faraway Eastern Region," he said.
He urged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government to take action and fulfill its campaign promises to address the issue.

"The evidence is here and it’s right in the home of the Minister for Government Communications," he added, directly linking the issue to the government.
