"At the sedition trial...Court frees Tommy's 'ghost'', A-G drops charge", is the screamer on the front page of the Free Press.

The paper says following the sudden death of Mr Tommy Thompson, publisher of the Free Press and who was one of the accused in the on-going sedition trial, the Attorney-General has declined interest in the continuation of his prosecution.

To this end, the paper says the prosecution led by the Deputy Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Mr Martin Amidu, has entered a plea of "nolle prosequi" (non-prosecution) against the deceased.

According to the Free Press, this was announced at the resumed sitting on the case on 6 October 98. GRi
