Francis Asare, a 38-year-old man, is demanding compensation from the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) after losing his job due to a case of mistaken identity.

According to a Metro TV report on April 1, 2026, Asare was among three individuals declared wanted by the OSP in July 2024 for investigations into corruption-related offences.

However, after presenting himself to the police, he was informed that he was not the person being sought after.

Officials explained that the error stemmed from incorrect information allegedly provided by a bank.

Despite being cleared, Asare said the damage had already been done as he claims he lost his job shortly after the public notice and has since struggled with mental distress.

“I was afraid when I saw the post, so I went there myself. They told me it was a mistake and I was not the person. But I have lost my job and I am going through a lot,” Metro TV quoted him as saying in an interview.

Francis is now appealing to the OSP to consider compensating him for the hardship he has endured as a result of the error.

It will be recalled that on July 24, 2024, the OSP declared three persons wanted, Francis Asare, Anthony Gyasi and Sadia Alhassan over alleged corruption-related offences, including bribery and abuse of public office for profit.
