Goldfields To Loose 16 Points

Ghana soccer fans were shocked to the spines this morning when a Sunyani-based radio station, SPACE FM broke the news that the Appeals Committee of GFA had overturned the earlier decision of the Disciplinary Committee concerning the player Valentine Atem.

Accra Great Olympics protested against the Camerounian, arguing that Goldfields flouted the laid down procedure for registering foreign players according to the provisions of Article 33(4i, ii) of the GFA Regulation.

The decision of the appeals committee would lead Goldfields to loose 16 points from their accumulated point build-up. More aggravating is the news that Accra Hearts of oak are set to demand their pound of flesh since the player (Atem) featured in their 1-1 drawn game played last Monday.

In an exclusive interview with SPACE FM, the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Andy Sam, expressed deep regret about the issue, but blamed Owoahene Acheampong, the Accra representative of the club as the cause of the problem. He however, accepted responsibility for the mishap but blamed Owoahene Acheampong, the Accra representative of Goldfields for gross negligence. He hinted that the management has resolved to dispense with the services for of Mr.Acheampong.

He called on the supporters to remain resolute and assured them that the club would battle with the rest of the matches in the league till the last breath.
