President John Dramani Mahama has expressed his dissatisfaction with the current state of the ongoing Ofankor-Nsawam Road project.

Addressing the media when he visited the site of the project on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, President Mahama said that he cannot comprehend why the project is still ongoing despite the amount of money spent on it.

He indicated that not only was the project incomplete but that the government has had to pay an extra amount of money to have it completed.

“A loan was taken for this project. I don’t understand why the money is finished, and the project is not over, and we are having to come and pay supplementary, almost GH¢78 million of the government of Ghana funds,” he said.

The president indicated that his government will investigate why the project is still uncompleted despite the amount of money spent on it.

“So, that is something that we need to find out. What really happened? How come the loan that was taken was not enough? Was it that the estimate for the project was not done properly?” he quizzed.

He, however, called on the contractors to complete the project within the new deadline that has been given, which is the 2nd quarter of 2025.

He also urged them to put measures in place to ensure that the ongoing works do not impede traffic because of the importance of the Ofankor-Nsawam Road.
