GHALCA members go to South Africa

Accra, Sept 22, GNA- Three members of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) and Mr Kofi Nsiah, General Secretary of the Ghana football Association on Monday left for South Africa on the invitation of Mr Danny Jordaan, Chief Executive Officer of the 2010 World Cup Bid Committee.

The members are Mr Kudjo Fianoo, Administrative Secretary, Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi and Mr R.O. Solomon chairman of Accra Great Olympics. Speaking to the GNA Sports, Mr Fianoo said GHALCA made the request through Mr Abedi Pele Ayew, General Manager of the national teams when Mr Jordaan came to Accra to solicit Ghana's backing on their bid to host the 2010 World Cup.

He said the decline in Ghana Sports, especially football, which should be the concern of every Ghanaian has necessitated their journey to South Africa and whiles there they would use the opportunity to learn from the South Africans on how they have been able to successfully run their league.

Mr Fianu said they will also learn how the South Africans manage to get sponsorship for their league as well as seeking television rights which has become a problem in Ghana.

The members will be away for one week.

In a related development, Mr Fianoo has congratulated the Black Queens for their wonderful performance against their Chinese counterparts.

'Even though they lost, they lost to a good side and if they continue like that they will cause a major upset in the competition.'
