Operation Health Walk initiated in Fanteakwa

Begoro (E/R), Aug. 13, GNA - The Fanteakwa District Directorate of the Ghana Health Service has initiated a health walk for the first Saturday of every month, as a way of helping to reduce sedentary diseases in the district.

The District Director of Health Services, Mr Frederick Kwame Ofosu told Ghana News Agency at Begoro on Thursday that the exercise was aimed at reducing cardiovascular diseases, hypertension and morbidity rate, which top the list in the district.

He said a distance of eight kilometres would be covered, adding that, 20 people participated in the first of the series of the exercise when it started in August 6, this year.

Dr Ofosu was optimistic that the group involved in the exercise would soon be transformed into a viable keep fit club in future . He urged the public to join the programme to enable them exercise their bodies periodically to reduce their cholesterol levels. Aug. 13, 2005
