Library in honour of late Justice Agyepong

Oyoko (Ash), July 7, GNA - A 25,000 new Ghana Cedi (250 million cedi) library complex built in honour of late Mr Justice Kwadwo Agyei Agyepong, one of the three judges murdered in 1982, was on Friday inaugurated at Oyoko, near Effiduasi in the Sekyere East District of Ashanti.

The library, which is stocked with a variety of books and two computers and its accessories, is meant to enhance educational development at Oyoko and its environs.

It was financed by Mr Kwabena Agyepong, former press secretay at the Office of the President and son of the late judge in collaboration with Plan Ghana, a non-governmental organisation (NGO).

Inaugurat ing the project, Mr Agyepong commended the late judge who is a native of Oyoko for his commitment to education and entreated the residents to emulate this shinning example.

He appealed to stakeholders to commit resources to providing educational facilities for people in deprived areas in the country for manpower development.

Mr Philip Basoah, District Chief Executive for Sekyere East, lauded Mr Agyepong for the initiative and called on the community to take good care of the project for its sustenance. Nana Kwadwo Owusu II, chief of Oyoko, was optimistic that the library would help to inculcate the habit of reading in pupils and students and urged them to make use of the facility.
