Kumasi, July 7, GNA - Alhaji Moktar Bamba, formerly at the Office of the President, has admonished Ghanaians to be devoted to acts that promote intra-tribal cohesion and unity of purpose to sustain the peace the nation is enjoying.
This he noted was crucial to enable the nation to realize her development goals since there could be no meaningful development in a chaotic environment.
Alhaji Bamba was speaking at the inauguration of the Banda High Ladies Club, a benevolent society in Kumasi at the weekend. The Club has Madam Hawa Banda as president, Madam Fatima Ahmed, secretary, Madam Adisatu Ishak, financial secretary and Madam Abiba Mohammed, organizer.
He said it behoved leaders of the various tribal groups in the country to impress upon their people to be tolerant of divergent views and refrain from whipping up tribal sentiments.
Alhaji Bamba charged women to invest in their children's education and to desist from leading extravagant lifestyles. "You should cut down on your funeral, wedding and out-dooring expenses and rather be committed to the total development of your children, especially their education since they are the future leaders", he remarked.
Madam Banda charged members to shun petty squabbles, arrogance and backbiting and be dedicated to the ideals of the Club for the realization of their mission.
