Trader remanded for possessing narcotic drugs

Accra, Oct 22, GNA- Kofi Opoku, a trader was on Wednesday arraigned before an Accra Regional Tribunal charged with possessing narcotic drugs.

His plea was not taken and he was remanded into prison custody for three weeks.

The prosecution deferred the facts of the case to the next adjourned date.

The charge sheet, however, indicated that on the 17th of last month, the police arrested the accused in a special operation at Kokomba Market in Accra.

When searched, 81 wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp were found on him.

The prosecution told the tribunal that it had forwarded the leaves to the Police Forensic Laboratory for analysis, and hoped the report would be ready by November 11, the next adjourned date.
