Health Services Director Urges Traditional Rulers To Hold Forums On Health

Winneba (Central Region), 8 Oct.,

The Central regional Director of Health Services, Dr Elias K. Sory, has suggested that traditional rulers organize quarterly forums to discuss health issues with medical officers and other health workers operating within their jurisdiction. Such interaction, he said, would enable the people to point out the shortfalls of health workers at the right time to promote excellent health delivery programmes at all times. Dr Sory was addressing a cross-section of Effutu citizens, doctors, nurses and paramedical staff of the Winneba Government Hospital at a function at which the Omanhene of the Effutu Traditional Area, Nana Ghartey VII, presented 20 million cedis worth of medical equipment and assorted drugs to the hospital on Tuesday. The gifts were donated by some citizens of Winneba resident in the United States following an appeal made to them by Nana Ghartey and Dr Ben K. Aflakpui, senior medical officer of health in charge of the Winneba Government hospital last year. Dr Sory said medical doctors and auxiliary staff are bound to make mistakes at times in the course of their duties. When situations like this occur, he said it is the people around them who should point out their faults to them without fear of intimidation from any quarters.
