Water shortage hits community

Nkoranza (B/A) April 25, GNA - An acute water shortage has hit Timiabu, a settler farming community in Nkoranza District, affecting the lives and economic activities of the people. Mr. Forkuo Agyemang, an elder of the community explained to Ghana News Agency at Nkoranza that the only stream had dried up as a result of the long dry season. "The people have been compelled to walk a distance of about three kilometres to Odumase, a nearby community, to fetch water from river Breme. Mr. Agyemang, who is head teacher of Koforidua-Baabiani Local Primary School in the area said if the situation persisted the staff and students would always report late to school and that would affect academic work. He appealed to the District Assembly to help address the problem to promote the health and education of the people.
