A leading member of the Committee for Joint Action (CJA) and Editor-In-Chief of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, is quizzing the former first lady Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings on how she will react to criticisms from the public after purportedly saying the government must accept criticisms in good faith concerning the recent Kumasi killings.
According to him, it’s laudable for such a statement to have come from the former first lady but as to whether she and her supporters accept a criticism is an issue to discuss.
“It’s amazing Nana Konadu is saying that, I think it’s a good idea, Ghana is moving forward. But let’s wait and see how she will react to criticisms when her issue is in the public domain,” he said.
Former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, is one of the few who have expressed concern about the recent killings in Kumasi.
She ascribed the killings to a breakdown in law and order across the country. Nana Konadu also maintained that the recent killings are due to the state of lawlessness in the country.
Speaking on Adom FM, seasoned journalist Mr. Pratt opined that, it’s unfortunate for the former first lady to have made such a statement.
“Here in Ghana, there was a time more than 200 hundred people were killed, but today that only 3 people have been killed in Kumasi, she (Nana Konadu) is saying the nation is in the state of lawlessness, where was she when over 250 people were killed in the their era? Sometimes I don’t want to hear such statement from her (Nana Konadu)”, he said.
Mr. Pratt, however, urged the police to be on their feet and combat crimes not only in Kumasi but the nations as a whole.
