Ghana vs Congo: Some Historical Facts

Ghana's only victory in Kinshasa dates back to August 2, 1981, when the Stars beat the Central African country (then known as Zaire) 2-1 in an African Nations Cup qualifier.
In 16 previous encounters between the two countries since 1965, Ghana have won nine times, with the Congolese enjoying a smaller slice of victories.
DR Congo achieved a significant victory in the World Cup qualifiers in 1973, beating the Stars 4-1 in Kinshasa enroute to qualifying on a 4-2 aggregate for the 1974 World Cup in West Germany.
Stars skipper Appiah led the team to a 1-2 loss to the Simbas in Kinshasa almost three years ago in a Nations Cup qualifier when the Stars were handled by Milan Zivadinovic.
