Lord Mayor lauds Ghana for corporate governance and integrity

Accra, Jan. 24, GNA - Mr. John Stottard, the visiting Lord Mayor of the City of London, a United Kingdom (UK) based financial institution has praised Ghana for its rating on the Global Integrity Index. He said the country's corporate governance and integrity stood out in Africa, something, he was impressed about.

The Lord Mayor gave the commendation when he paid a courtesy call on President John Agyekum Kufuor at the Castle, Osu on Wednesday. He said, he was also happy with the respect for the rule of law in the country.

President Kufuor said Ghana was quite ambitious about becoming the financial hub of Africa and that coming from a global international financing, he was confident that the country could gain from the Mayor's experience.

He announced that Ghana would launch an International Financial Services Centre within the next couple of months. President Kufuor expressed appreciation to the UK-based institution for its support for the training of the country's disabled and educational sector.
