The roads are decorated, the major streets being cleaned up, the stadium all clean and shiny, the stage is set, and it appears all that may be left is for the personalities and guests to arrive and the cameras to start rolling and then its all action.

It's all excitement and businesses have started strategizing how to make the most of the big event in town, the first-ever Independence Day celebration being held in the Ashanti Region.

From the very first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah to the very last before President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, all Independence Day anniversaries have been held in the capital of Ghana; the Greater Accra Region.

In 2019, there was a twist to that history, for the first time ever, the celebrations were taken out of the capital and sent to the Northern Region, Tamale specifically, as efforts to seal the Dagbon Peace Pact that had been achieved.

It worked, the President received a lot of applause and commendations and maybe, they just decided to take up the idea, move the occasion around the nation for every regional capital to have a little feel of the big occasion.

A visit by Ghanaweb’s team, a day before the event marked to take place at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium Friday, 6th March, showed the township is ready to welcome the celebrations.

Here is a video summary of preparations ongoing in the capital ahead of tomorrow’s event
