The pathologist who conducted the post mortem on the deceased in the centre of the Krofrom chaos has denied being induced to doctor his findings.

The locals of the Ashanti region town have been on rampage over the death of 22-year-old Richmond Osei aka Tawiah following alleged police brutality. Family members and town folks went berserk Tuesday when autopsy report exonerated the police of any wrongdoing.

Dr. Osei Sampene of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has told Starr News’ Ibrahim Alhassan he did a professional job, saying the family is only living in “self-denial and desperation.”

Dr. Sampene described the situation as “madness.”

“When you are disappointed you’ll always not believe in what you have heard. You’ll not like what you’re saying and what you’ve been told. And that is what we call self-denial. Some people take self-denial to some level we call madness,” the pathologist opined. “And that is exactly what they are doing.”

He added: “Otherwise I don’t see why such a case should escalate into this level where people will be burning tyres and cursing. It is their right to curse and show this sort of displeasure but they shouldn’t go to some level that will eventually lead to calamity.”

The livid family has been raining insults and curses on Dr. Sampene, alleging he has been compromised. However, he said he is unfazed by their actions.

“No, I’m not bothered about the curses. I don’t have anything to bother about it. I have not done anything shrouded in secrecy. I did it [autopsy] in the presence of the family members. They were permitted to take photographs. The curse is needless.”

According to him, the family has the right to seek for a second opinion.

“The body is there and is not buried. If you feel what I have written you don’t accept it there are other pathologists in Ghana; call them and have a second look at the body. I can’t control the movement of the body, so they have every right to call for a second or third or fifth opinion.

“I have not taken any bribe. Can the police offer me any bribe to doctor the report?” Dr. Sampene queried.
