“The Management of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital wishes to announce that two medical doctors and two nurses have been interdicted following their alleged failure to provide emergency medical care to a hit-and-run victim.
“In line with established administrative procedures, a committee has been constituted to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and the unfortunate death of the victim,” part of the statement read.

The hospital has appealed to all persons connected to the matter to cooperate fully with the inquiry, assuring the public that the process will be fair and transparent.
Management also reiterated its commitment to accountability and the provision of quality healthcare, adding that further updates will be shared after the committee completes its work.
The victim, 29-year-old Charles Amissah, an engineer with Promasidor Ghana Limited, lost his life after a hit-and-run accident at the Circle Overpass in Accra on February 6, 2026.
According to reports, he suffered severe shoulder injuries and was first attended to by Emergency Medical Services personnel, who stabilised him at the scene and prepared him for transfer to a health facility.
However, his transfer became complicated. He was reportedly turned away by three major hospitals, Ghana Police Hospital, Greater Accra Regional Hospital and Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, over claims that there were no available beds.
Efforts to move him elsewhere were said to have been resisted by hospital staff, despite warnings from the ambulance team that relocating him in his condition could prove fatal.
Amissah reportedly went into cardiac arrest. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was administered, but he could not be revived. He was later pronounced dead, and his body conveyed to the mortuary. The EMS team returned to base in the early hours of February 7, 2026.
