Kufuor signs book of condolence for the late Justice Annan

Accra, Sept. 29, GNA - President John Agyekum Kufuor on Friday signed the book of condolence opened for the late Former Speaker of Parliament, Mr Justice Daniel Francis Annan, at the Ga Mantse's Palace in Accra.

He wrote: "Speaker Justice Annan lived an exemplary life as a very distinguished Public Servant in many fields including law, sports, diplomacy and politics.

=93In all, he attained great distinction for the betterment of Ghana. He will be missed as an elder statesman. May his soul rest in peace."

President Kufuor, later in brief remarks, said the late Mr Justice Annan had made an indelible mark in the history of the country. He said what he wrote in the book was not for himself but the State of Ghana, which he served with distinction.

The Spokesperson for the bereaved family, Mr Amarkai Amartefio said they were really touched by President Kufuor's presence. "It signifies to us the affection you bear for our late relative, Justice Annan. We are consoled by your presence."

Mr Amartefio said they had not only lost a very esteemed member of the family but that the country was poorer by the death of the Former Speaker of Parliament.

Among those present were Mr J. S. Addo, a Member of the Council of State, some Ministers of State, Nii Adotey Obuor II, Acting President of the Ga Traditional Council, Mrs Rosetta Annan, the widow and members of the bereaved family.
