Kim Grant To Play In Malaysia

KUCHING — English striker Kim Grant has accepted Football Asso-ciation of Sarawak (FAS)’s offer to play for the State in the Super League this season.FAS administrative officer, Abdillah Mail said yesterday that the 27-year-old player has contacted the association and informed them that he had decided to accept their offer. Grant will be the fourth import player to join the Crocs, filling the quota of four foreign imports for each team in the Super League.

Salomon Fifi who was also on trial with the same clube was dropped

“Grant told us that he will be arriving in Kuching on Feb 28 and he is now in Portugal to sort out his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) from his present club Deportive Mortal,” said Abdillah.Abdillah said if everything goes on smoothly, Grant should be able to don the Crocs’ jersey when they clash with Kedah in Alor Setar on March 6.“We hope that Grant can solve his problem including getting his ITC and arrive in Kuching as promised,” said Abdillah.Grant will shoulder the role as a playmaker and striker to partner Belgian Robert Eshun and Portuguese Nando Manuel Co up front.

Abdillah also confirmed that FAS have received Rodrigo Anderson’s ITC yesterday morning and the Brazilian is expected to be fielded against Perlis tomorrow night at the Sarawak Stadium in Petra Jaya.“We have just received Anderson’s ITC faxed by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) to us at about 9am today (yesterday),” said Abdillah. However until yesterday evening, FAS have yet to receive Nando’s ITC but hoped that the problem could be solved by today or the latest tomorrow.Anderson’s presence is badly needed to beef up the Crocs’ shaky defence while Nando can boost the firepower in attack with Eshun. Both players missed the first match played at the Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu last Saturday which saw the Crocs falling 1-3 to the Rhinos.
