President John Mahama and his government deserve commendation for not blocking the judicial corruption scandal video from being shown, despite its damning revelations.

Dr Zanetor Rawlings, daughter of National Democratic Congress founder JJ Rawlings, believes Mahama or the State could have used the national security or the courts to block the three-hour long documentary from premiering in Accra, but because he is committed to help cleanse the judiciary he allowed it.

“It takes a government that is daring to allow such a thing to go public,” the parliamentary aspirant for the Klottey Korle constituency told host of Anopa Kasapa, Fiifi Banson, Tuesday on Kasapa 102.3 FM.

“Mahama and his government are bold… they could have used some kind of injunction or block it. It’s a bold step. I believe it is the right thing to do to correct” the system.

Thirty-four judges are being investigated for allegedly taking bribes to influence cases before them.

Seven of the High Court judges have been suspended by President Mahama while 22 lower court judges have been sanctioned by the Chief Justice, Theodora Georgina Wood.
