European Commission tom organise Under-12 Tournament

Accra, April 13, GNA - The European Commission in Ghana, will on May 6 organize an Under-12 Soccer Tournament in Accra in commemoration with the European Union (EU) week celebration, which spans from May 1-9. The competition, scheduled for the main soccer pitch of University of Ghana, Legon, will feature such teams as Saraphina FC (Dansoman), Deyac's (Kwashieman), Schwepps FC (Nungua) and Blackburn FC (Nungua). The rest are Obunu FC (La), Young Goldfields (Osu), Gadafi FC (Mamprobi) Barcelona FC (Mabruk) Mandela FC (Labadi).

A statement issued from the office of the European Union (EU) in Ghana said the participants would represent all member states of the Union during the one-day event, which will be preceded by a game between the Under-14 sides of two reputable soccer academies in Ghana, Gomoa Fetteh Feyenoord Academy and Tom Venon Academy.

As part of the programme, players of the Feyenoord Academy will make a presentation on HIV/AIDS.

Winners at the end of the competition will be presented with EU branded footballs, medals and certificates and the event will be witnessed by member states of the EU in Ghana, officials of the Ministry of Education and Sports and the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
