The Acting Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), James Klutse Avedzi, has praised the consistency and dedication of the late Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, describing him as someone who stood by his position regardless of external pressure.
Speaking to GhanaWeb on August 8, 2025, Avedzi recounted his extensive working relationship with Murtala over the past eight years, both in Parliament and on key committees.
"If somebody defends his position, no matter what kind of pressure you put on him, he will stand by it as it is. I worked with him for eight good years, not only as a Member of Parliament but also as a member of my committee. When I was chairman of the Finance Committee, he served on it for four years. Then he lost the election, but after winning another term, he joined my committee again when I became chairman of the Public Accounts Committee. So we worked very closely," he said.

"I traveled with him to Liberia. We traveled together across the country, Tamale, Sunyani, Takoradi, working all along," he shared.
He also revealed that Murtala had once promised to lead all Public Accounts Committee members who were appointed as ministers by President John Mahama to visit him at the Securities and Exchange Commission.
