Yeboah threatens to quit

HAMBURG STRIKER Tony Yeboah is threatening to quit football after an argument with his solicitor about outstanding legal fees.

The striker is threatening his former solicitor who is demanding $US 500,000 in legal fees, Yeboah said: I'll quit, if Dr. Kruppa sticks to his demands."

Dr. Thomas Kruppa defended Yeboah in his court case for tax evasion and is demanding that the former Leeds United star pay him for his services.

Yeboah has refused to pay and has threatened to walk out on the Hamburg club, he said: "I definitely won't play football for another year just to pay this person."

The player added that if the situation continues that he will not even honour is contract at Hamburg which runs out in 2002.

He said: "I'll quit if Dr. Kruppa sticks to his demands. I talk to the club and return home to Ghana. Even though I must admit that I would feel sorry for the fans."

The lawyer who defended Yeboah in his court case for tax evasion has set a dead-line for the payment of his bill. If the star striker doesn't settle the debt until the 10th of July, Kruppa wants to sue his own client.

Yeboah has stated that he thinks the bill is way too high.

To enforce his threat the striker returned from his summer holiday on his own, he said: "My wife and children will stay in Ghana until I know if I will continue my career in Hamburg."
