Court commends Abudus and Andanis

Mr Justice Yaw Appau, an Accra High Court Judge, on Thursday commended the two factions in the Yendi conflict for heeding to a warning to stop quarrelling among themselves and to allow the law to take it course in resolving the issue at stake.

Mr Justice Appau said: "I wish to congratulate both parties for heeding to my advice to stop quarrelling among themselves. Ever since the warning was issued, I have not heard any quarrel by any of the factions. I hope this would continue forever."

Mr Justice Appau urged them to maintain the peace until the case was resolved amicably.

Mr Justice Appau said this at the trial of two persons charged with the murder of Ya-Na Yakubu Andani II, Paramount Chief of the Dagbon Traditional Area.

Yidana Sugri and Iddrisu Gyanfo, both farmers, are standing trial on alleged conspiracy to commit murder and murdering Ya Na Andani.

They have pleaded not guilty.

During one of the court's sittings a quarrel ensued between members of the Abudu and Andani families immediately after the court adjourned.

The trouble started when two women from the two families quarrelled in the courtroom soon after the day's sitting and two men joined as they shouted in Dabgani.

Mr Justice Appau told the two factions to remain calm and cautioned them to be of good behaviour when in court.

The court adjourned the case to June 13 because two members of the jury were absent
