Kingson hosts Anniversary Party

Turkey based first choice goalkeeper for the senior national soccer side, the Black Stars, Richard Kingson, will be hosting colleagues and other members of the Ghanaian community based in Turkey in a special anniversary party at his Turkish base on the evening of March 7th 2007.

The party, which marks the 10th wedding anniversary celebration of the former Galatasaray goalie with wife Adelaide Kingson, is expected to attract a lot of dignitaries including soccer fans especially with the celebration of Ghana’s 50th birthday yesterday.

In a telephone conversation yesterday evening, Kingson, who was convinced by his BB Ankaraspor club officials to stay with the team after receiving offers from most European clubs after his impressive outing at the 2006 Germany World Cup, said with Ghana’s 50th anniversary celebrations falling in line with his 10th wedding anniversary, he decided to organize the party in order to give the Ghanaian community the opportunity to also celebrate the Ghana@ 50 in far away Turkey.

“Most of us saw on the internet how Ghana was today as almost the whole Africa assembled in Accra to celebrate the anniversary and as such we also want to organize a similar event tomorrow courtesy the part which will be massive with my brother Laryea Kingson being among the visiting guest” he said.

He added that the meeting will also afford him the opportunity to say a big thank you to the entire Ghanaian community in Turkey as well as the Turkish soccer fans for their wonderful support to the Stars during the last World Cup in Germany, when the team reached the second round of the competition after suffering a painful 3-0 elimination at the hands of former World Champions, Brazil, as the Stars tasted their maiden participation at the biggest soccer fiesta.

The former Accra Great Olympics goalkeeper, who has spent the last decade of his career in Turkey, is likely to join the English Premiership as reports have it that the player is currently on the shopping list of two English sides for the summer transfer.

Among those expected to grace the occasion will be Black Stars skipper Stephen Appiah, midfielder Haminu Dramani, also of Black Stars and Baba Adamu Amando all of Turkey.
