Indian-Ghanaian business mogul Niharka Handa has refuted a report of being a fugitive running away from justice in her home country, India, and using Ghana as a haven.
A statement issued by her lawyers, Sory & Partners @Law, stated that Niharka Handa is not a subject of any investigation and did not run away from India as asserted.
The lawyers explained that the businesswoman left India in 2017 and not in 2022 as claimed, after the High Court in India threw out a suit in her favour.
“Our client never fled India, let alone in the year 2022. Our client has, since the year 2017, lived outside of India, and this fact is judicially established by the High Court of India in proceedings initiated by our client, in which our client successfully quashed a complaint made against her and in respect of which fact, there is also documentary proof.
“It is therefore factually incorrect, as you allege, that our client left India in the year 2021 following non-bailable arrest warrants issued for her arrest,” parts of the statement read.
Renowned businessman Singh Hari reacts to stealing allegations
The lawyers stated that their client believes that the allegations against her is being orchestrated by Amar Deep Singh Hari, who is said to be the Board Chairman of IPMC and co-founder of Gold Crest Refinery.
The statement alleged that Singh Hari was making these allegations against Niharka Handa because of legal action she had taken against him.
“Mr Singh Hari denies allegations of criminal conduct made against him by our client and then goes on to falsely describe our client and her son as fugitives who are facing various cases abroad.
“As you will note from Mr Singh Hari’s own statement, he admits that allegations of criminal conduct have been made against him. At all times material to our letter, the allegations have been escalated, as a result of which Mr Singh Hari is now facing full-blown criminal and civil proceedings in court for stealing precious minerals and other properties belonging to Gold Crest, the details of the cases being: i. Republic v Amar Deep Singh Hari & Anor. ii. Niharika Handa v Amar Deep Singh Hari & Others,” part of the statement reads.

It added, “Having caused criminal and civil proceedings to be instituted against Mr Singh Hari, he has resorted to various reprisal actions such as threatening workers of the company [Gold Crest], as a result of which the workers have instituted proceedings against him at the Labour Commission.”
It was further stated in the statement that workers of Gold Crest have also filed complaints against Singh Hari because he lied against them after they reported the “theft of the company’s properties” to Niharika Handa.
