The government has officially presented the diplomatic passports it granted to five Ghanaian personalities in recognition of their efforts to promote African unity and integration.

The diplomatic passports were presented to the personalities at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the sector minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

The beneficiaries included Wode Maya (Berthold Kobby Winkler Ackon), a travel vlogger with over 1.2 million YouTube subscribers; Lady Dentaa (Dentaa Amoateng MBE), founder of the Ghana UK-Based Achievement (GUBA) Awards; and broadcaster Anita Erskine.

The others are reggae artiste and multiple Grammy Award nominee, Rocky Dawuni; and Ibrahim Mahama, a globally acclaimed artiste known for his large-scale installations exploring themes of trade and colonialism.

During the presentation, Okudzeto Ablakwa acknowledged the efforts made by these individuals through their arts to promote the image of Ghana and urged them to continue to uphold the good name of the country.

He highlighted the relevance of their arts and established its linkage with the upcoming 2025 Diaspora Summit scheduled to be held from December 19 to December 20, 2025, in Accra.

Speaking to the media after receiving his diplomatic passport, Ibrahim Mahama said that the passport would help elevate his work to the next level by removing some of the challenges he had, including deportation.

He recalled how he was deported from some of the countries he travelled to for work, saying that these impediments would now be a thing of the past.

“I have been arrested, deported because of the passport that I used. So, I guess this time around no more deportation,” he said.
