The Inspector General of Police (IGP), David Asante Apeatu has served notice he will not condone the lackadaisical attitude of police prosecutors and investigators towards their entrusted duties warning that such persons once found will be dealt with.

He said the police administration has observed the lazy attitude of its personnel especially those charged with the responsibility of prosecuting cases in the court, urging them to work to ensure the country’s democracy will not be in ruins.

“Irrespective of our challenges, let us all note that our performances dovetail into that of the judiciary and we either succeed as a system” the Inspector General of Police (IGP), David Asante Appeatu charged officers.

“It has been detected that in the ‘justice or all programme’ that many remand prisoners were virtually abandoned by police investigators or prosecutors without justification” he disclosed.

Delivering a speech at the National Police Command Conference in the Ashanti Regional capital Kumasi, the IGP charged police prosecutors/investigators to dovetail their work into the judiciary for effective criminal justice system.

“The importance of commanders with integrity, honesty and respect of rule of law in this era of our national life cannot be over emphasized” the IGP pointed out.

“My confidence in you is unwavering but those of you who have worked closely with me along my career can attest to the fact that I do allow incompetence and mediocrity to fester when I am in position to take action” he stressed.

“It is my hope that you will keep in high esteem the confidence reposed in you and be assured that I will continue to be your anchor to your various positions as regional commanders and crime officers”
