Interact regularly with the people - DCE's told

Bonte (B/A) Sept. 26, GNA - Nana Krobea Asante Sarpong III, Chief of Bonte in the Nkoranza District at the weekend advised Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives to regularly interact with traditional authorities, Assembly members and unit committees to be abreast with their aspirations and expectations on development. He said such regular interactions would provide the platform for informal discussions on the aspirations of the people and their weaknesses to be able to offer the services to meet the expectations of the people in development.

Nana Sarpong gave the advice when Mr. James Kwabena Appiah-Awuah, Nkoranza District Chief Executive visited Bonte as part of a familiarization tour of the district.

He asked the Chief Executives not to be actively involved in politics at the expense of their socio-economic development roles to create barriers among the people of other political parties. Nana Sarpong appealed to Heads of the 22 Decentralised Departments to coordinate with the Chief Executives and offer them the necessary support in the development of their Metropolitan, Municipal and districts.

He advised the Chief Executives against giving vain promises and assurances to the people that might make the people lose confidence in them.

Mr. Samuel Akuna, Assemblyman, said the people had constructed a six-classroom block, estimated at about 500 million cedis for the local primary school and appealed to the Assembly to assist the community with 100 bags of cement towards the project.

He called on the Assembly to provide a three-classroom block for the local primary school at Mangoase Junction, a settler farming community near Bonte to improve education of the children. Mr. Appiah-Awuah commended the people for the project and pledged the Assembly's support to help complete the project. He called for unity among the people and participate in communal labour for the early completion of development programmes to help them improve on their living standards.
