TUC mourns three doctors

Accra, Sept. 1, GNA - The Trades Union Congress (TUC) on Thursday called on individuals and groups charged with preventing road traffic accidents to be up and doing.

This is contained in a statement expressing its condolences to the families of the three doctors of the Urology Department of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, who lost their lives through a motor accident last weekend.

The TUC said it was touched by the patriotism of two of the doctors, who returned to work after retirement just to continue serving the nation.

"Our hearts bleed again because this good example was set at a time that many doctors are deserting the country in search of greener pastures abroad.

"We once again wish to express our heartfelt condolences as well as those of the entire workers of the country to the Ghana Medical Association and the bereaved families on the loss of these doctors who were, no doubt, good role models for other workers."

Professor J.M.K. Quartey, Dr Isaac Bentsi and Dr Benjamin Osei-Wiafe, died in the motor accident last Saturday on the Bunso-Apedwa stretch of the Accra-Kumasi Highway.
