Tagoe Steals Show At Mortein Boxing

TEENAGE BOXING sensation, Emmanuel Tagoe of the Black Panther boxing club last Saturday displayed wonderful performance when he scored a unanimous point decision against Odarlai Lamptey of Akotoku Academy in their featherweight contest at the premises of Metro TV.

The judges: Fred Ghartey, Nat Botcway and E.J.D. Osabutey scored it 77-74, 78-75 and 78-75 in favour of Tagoe who clearly dominated the entire duration.

Tagoe sent the sparse crowd on their feet in the first round when his left-right hook combination caught the jaw of Lamptey which eventually sent him down to receive the mandatory count.

Lamptey in the 3rd round appeared to have been head butted on the right cheek by Tagoe for which the later was penalized.

The referee ordered a temporary hold-up in the cause of the 4th round to drive away the fans of Black Panthers out from ringside.

The night which was the 3rd in the series of the Mortein Pro-boxing league as well as tournament number four also saw former Black bombers captain Lartei Lartey recording a 1st round TKO over Duke Ayin of Will Power in their super lightweight contest.

Lartey needed only 53 seconds to demolish his opponent.

Ayin had visited the canvas twice in the round and appeared defenseless before referee Fred Ghartey stop the fight to save him from further punishment.

Attoh Quarshie's Roland Mills won by a 3rd round TKO over Ishmael Clottey from the Wisdom club in the super lightweight fray. Mills showed overall tactical display to mesmerize his opponent. After sizing each other in the initial exchanges, Mills varied his strategy, which Clottey had no answer, forcing him to take an early shower. In the Featherweight contest Maxwell Awuku from the Fit Square soared above Prince Doku of Panix when he won on a split point decision. Doku was floored in the 6th round.

The Welterweight bout between Sampson Tettey and Gabriel Adoko from Wisdom and of Sagacious respectively could not take place with the excuse that Believer was serving a ban.
