Cocoa farmers appeal for repair of road

Goaso (B/A), Dec. 12, GNA - Cocoa farmers from Enchi in the Western Region have appealed to the government to rehabilitate the 35-mile road from Enchi to Asankrangwa that has been in a deplorable state for the past two years.

The farmers said travelers have to go through Samreboi and Manso Amenfi and this prolongs the journey by 25 miles. Speaking at a farmers forum at Acqua-Attah in the Aowin Suaman District the District Chief Farmer for Enchi "B" District, Nana Osei Duodu, said farmers are having it tough traveling in the area for the past two years and conveying farm crops and even the sick has been a Herculean task.

"As a result of this unhappy situation, many farmers are abandoning their farms."

Nana Osei Duodu said the farmers' appeal is to enable them to complement the government's kind gesture of free spraying of cocoa farms.
