Secure sponsorship for division two -Hunter

THE President of Cecil Hunters FC, Mr Tanko Abu Seidu, has appealed to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to secure sponsorship for division two clubs before the commencement of the next league season since they are the breeding grounds for the Premier League.

He noted that though the GFA deserves commendation for the multi-billion cedi sponsorship package for the national Premier League by Kinapharma, there are other teething problems on the ground which need immediate attention to transform our professional league to the highest level. In a release, the president of the Winneba-based club described the exclusion of division two clubs from the FA’s sponsorship drive as a big mistake.

“We are all aware that most of the exciting top class players come from division two through division one to the premier level before achieving their ultimate dreams abroad,” he emphasised. He therefore asked why division two teams alone should be made to pay referees before matches are played and also cater for their players from the scarce resources gained from the inadequate gate earnings.

He called on the GFA to reconsider the issue in order to bail division two clubs out of their financial hardships. He also entreated the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) to come to their rescue by securing them sponsorship just as they did for the Top Four tournament.
