The Ghana Police Service has announced the arrest of two people in connection with a plot to assassinate the Chief of Akyem Kwabeng in the Eastern Region.

In a statement issued on Sunday, October 12, 2025, the Eastern South Regional Police Command gave details of how the two suspects, identified as Emelia Akua Asor and Butuakwa Seth, were arrested in an intelligence-led operation after uncovering a plan to eliminate the Chief ahead of his first Royal Durbar, scheduled for October 17, 2025.

The police indicated that after getting wind of the assassination plot, they deployed undercover officers who embedded themselves in the network of the suspects.

The principal architect of the plot, Emelia Akua Asor, unknowingly offered one of the undercover officers a huge sum of money to carry out the crime.
