Football Clubs warned against violence

Cape Coast, Dec. 7, GNA - The Central Region Football Association (RFA) has warned that it will not hesitate to ban any club whose supporters misbehave during league matches. Mr Mathew Doe, Chairman of the Association gave the warning on Tuesday when he met representatives of Division Two Clubs at Cape Coast. He said the RFA has "noticed several acts of crowd violence" at the various league centres where some referees where manhandled and physically assaulted at the first round of the league.

Mr Doe said although all the cases have been brought before the Disciplinary Committee, the RFA finds it appropriate to caution all clubs that a repetition of such incidents would attract severe punishment, such as banning clubs from their home grounds for a number of matches or indefinite suspensions. He added that the RFA would also not hesitate to hand over culprits to the security agencies and exhorted club officials to educate their supporters to comport themselves during league matches.
