Some former classmates of President John Dramani Mahama have shared memories of his humble and caring personality during their days in school.

They shared this during their recently concluded 65th anniversary celebration at Ghana Senior High School (GHANASCO).

In a video that went viral on X on November 24, 2025, the schoolmates described Mahama as a ‘perfect gentleman’ who displayed respect and humility even as a student.

“One of the things we all remember is that he was a perfect gentleman. We didn’t know at the time he would become president, but to God be the glory, he is president, and he even married one of our own. We are so proud,” one former classmate said.

The classmates also recalled that Mahama was serious about his studies and believed in striving for success.

The alumni described Mahama as caring, respectful, and a person who dedicated qualities they say have continued to define him as a two-time President of Ghana.

President Mahama and his wife, First Lady Lordina Mahama, both alumni of GHANASCO, on Saturday November 22, 2025, graced the school's 65th anniversary celebration in Tamale on the theme: "GHANASCO at 65: A Legacy of Excellence, Inspiring Future Generations."

From a humble beginning of 70 students and a handful of teachers, the school's population has grown to 4,524 students, supported by 172 teachers and 52 non-teaching staff across six academic departments: general science, general arts, business, agriculture, home economics, and visual arts.

GHANASCO has risen to become a beacon of excellence in Ghana's educational landscape, a home of knowledge, discipline, and hope.
