He is the problem! - Dormaahene 'reports' Otumfuo to Bawumia over Sampa crisis

Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, has directly blamed the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for a violent chieftaincy crisis in Sampa, located in the Jaman North District of the Bono Region.

According to the Dormaahene, Otumfuo's continued meddling in the Sampa chieftaincy issue was at the heart of recent events.

He cited supposed infractions on the part of the Asantehene, which he said were disrespectful to the courts and Bono chiefs, who had previously been seized with the chieftaincy issue.

Addressing Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia and his entourage at the premises of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs earlier this week, the Dormaahene said:

"People think we are fearful. I am saying it without any contradiction, that Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is the reason the Sampa crisis is persisting.

"I will reiterate that the occupant of the Ashanti Stool, with due respect, is no mere monarch to be aware that a matter is before the courts and regional House of Chiefs and yet to be resolved, his intervention is even a matter of disrespect to us.

"You take out a matter before the court to go and resolve in Kumasi and you don't bring it before the panel (Bono chiefs) to have their say," the Dormaahene lamented.

He mentioned reports by Otumfuo's rep who allegedly spoke about Otumfuo bringing security detail to Sampa for the coronation of the new chief.

The Otumfuo-Dormaahene public exchanges in recent years have been centered on jurisdiction matters, status of paramountcy, history and perceived political leanings.
