Clash averted among party supporters

The timely intervention by officials of Ghana’s National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) averted a clash among supporters of three parties over the destruction of party posters at Lawra.

Mr Clement Vaare, Lawra district director of NCCE, said supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Reform Party (NRP) were at each other's throat as they traded accusations over who defaced the other's posters.

Vaare told the GNA that the incident created tension and he had to summon leaders of the parties to a meeting to get their members to restrain themselves. He appealed to party supporters to conduct the electioneering campaign according to the electoral rules to ensure law and order.
